As a 17-year-old apprentice, Jamie Spencer became the youngest jockey ever to win a Classic when he won the Irish 1000 Guineas in 1998 aboard Tarascon.
Born in County Tipperary, Ireland, he has been Champion Jockey twice, once in Ireland (2004) and once in Britain (2005); achieving 93 and 180 wins respectively. Renowned for his unique riding style he passed 2000 winners in 2017, a milestone only 21 jockeys had achieved before him.
Now aged 42, Spencer is one of the most experienced riders in the weighing room and has Group 1 winners to his name from all around the globe. Victories include both the English 2000 & 1000 Guineas, the St Leger Stakes, Champion Stakes and Ascot Gold Cup.
