Tom Marquand

Former Champion Apprentice

Group 1 winning jockey

Tom Marquand’s rise in the jockey ranks has been meteoric. Champion Apprentice and one of three finalists for 2015 BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year aged 17, he has gone from strength to strength in the saddle in the last nine years.

He has wowed top trainers and media alike with a number of big race successes globally including two Group 1s on Addeybb, a first Classic aboard Galileo Chrome in the St Leger, a July Cup on Starman at Newmarket, and a QEII Stakes victory aboard Bayside Boy on QIPCO British Champions Day. Tom added to his Group 1 haul in 2023 as he gave Quickthorn an outstanding ride in the Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup, and also steered Big Evs to victory to record a first Breeders’ Cup success to round off another stellar year.

He looks a sure-fire pick to be Champion Jockey in the next few years if he continues his rapid ascent in the sport.
